To me, sometimes dance can be something so intimate and special. There are moments where we’re able to connect with a partner so deeply that we’re able to lose ourselves and find ourselves together again and again. Moments where we lose our egos, lose our expectations, be here in the present, enjoying the music, the dance for ourselves and for one another.
& when we find that connection,
I look to create a moment that will live in our minds and hearts, a moment that will remind us of a time we can cherish. A moment where we forget who we are and find ourselves in the person we’re sharing the space with, with the person we’re sharing the dance with, a reminder that we don’t partner dance alone.
Discover how to let go of your ego and expectations, diving deeply into the present moment. We aim to create a dance experience that transcends the ordinary, where you and your partner become one, finding joy and intimacy in each shared movement. This is where your journey together begins, creating a moment to remember and treasure.
Seamless transitions are key to the beauty and grace of Brazilian Zouk. I emphasize the importance of smooth, fluid motion, where each step feels natural and intuitive. By focusing on this fluidity, you'll enhance your ability to maintain a harmonious connection with your partner, allowing you both to be fully immersed in the dance.
Grounding allows you to dance with confidence and stability, creating a solid foundation for every step and movement. By focusing on this sense of grounding, you enhance your awareness of your own body and your connection to the space around you. This self-awareness and physical connection not only improves your technique but also enriches the emotional depth of your dance, allowing you to fully embrace the moment and share it meaningfully with your partner.
Roberto started dancing in 2021 with George Mason University's (GMU) Performance Dance team. After watching and being captivated by his first Brazilian Zouk partner dance video, he decided to train in Brazilian Zouk. He dove deep into Brazilian Zouk online and trained at District Zouk in Washington, DC. At District Zouk, he developed his skills under the instruction of Gui Prada and Alisson Sandi. He was a member of Alisson's training team for two years, where he refined his technique and immersed himself in the artistry of Zouk. From Gui, he learned to embody the essence of comfort and flow. He aims to provide students a dance education that nurtures their artistic growth. By emphasizing on the feeling of the dance and encouraging students to connect with their bodies and the music, he helps dancers fully immerse themselves and find joy in the shared experience of a partner dance where connection, music, and movement harmonize to forge treasured moments.
